Last month, MegaMove was presented at the 25th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals, hosted by the Society for Marine Mammalogy in Perth, Australia. The event brought together over 1,400 attendees from 73 countries, which provided a valuable opportunity to showcase MegaMove! It also provided an important opportunity to reconnect with some of our global MegaMove collaborators, reinforcing the strong partnerships that drive MegaMove’s international impact.
Assoc Prof Ana M. M. Sequeira, Founder, Lead Coordinator and Research Director of MegaMove, attended the conference and presented “A Global Perspective on Marine Megafauna Movement and Conservation”during the Ecology, Evolution, and Movement session. Her presentation emphasised MegaMove’s role in advancing large-scale tracking of marine species to support conservation and policy efforts worldwide.
The conference enabled valuable in-person discussions, allowing Ana to reconnect with several MegaMove collaborators, strengthen ongoing partnerships, explore new opportunities for collaboration, and engage directly with marine scientists working at the forefront of their fields.
